Denmark 2021- Fyr and Flamme with ‘Ove Os Pa Hinanden’

There’s been reports of a break-in at Stott, Aitken and Waterman’s studio. In completely unrelated news- Denmark have chosen their entry for Rotterdam:

I know 80’s throwback’s are popular now, but this isn’t a throwback, it is just a song from the 80’s. It says a lot about the quality of Denmark’s MGP that this wasn’t a bad choice but the relentless beat and lack of any sort of musical progression makes this feel like, say it with me, a long three minutes. Juries will hate this and rightly so.

As for the televote, they may pick up some points, but whilst I think they are self-aware of the song’s datedness, that doesn’t come over live that well. Throwing in some 80s style effects or animations might be the best course of action to get the audience to play along with it.

Denmark have a second half draw but there’s not a lot of friends in semi 2. Speaking of that semi, it's shaping up to have a few of these messy up-tempo numbers. Also their likeliest source of any love, Iceland, will also probably be doing something 80s inspired, but better and with much more ironic self-awareness. Its not as if this is a semi that will need livening up so this looks in rough shape.

Personal Rating: 2/10 Competitive Rating: 3/10. Early Prediction: Semi Two 13th-17th (NQ)
