Greece 2022: Amanda Tenfjord with ‘Die Together’

Amanda Tenfjord (or Georgiadis if you’re trying to get the locals onside) is the latest female from the Greek diaspora to be internally selected, tasked with continuing the incremental improvements ERT have been seeing:

This is an interesting one, mainly because I’ve seen a lot of different takes on where the strengths and weaknesses of ‘Die Together’ are.

Personally, I enjoy the acapella/vocoder style intro- it’s something different and does draw you in, the melody and hook are strong and Kontopoulos has done a good job with the production and it’s been interesting to follow the work done since the leaked demo to the leaked final cut- need to stop sharing it around so much guys.

The downsides for me are the bridge which I don’t feel quite fits and is repetitive without adding anything to the overall impression and that shoehorned note (2.40 in the vid). Both take me out of this. Overall strong but not too strong. Juries should be respectful whilst the TV can be a bit more unpredictable and usually negatively on these downbeat ballads. We could have another Victoria situation where this stays high in the odds up until it performs in the semi and gains zero traction. With regards to the semi this obviously qualifies and given Ukraine's uncertainty is probably the most certain qualifier.

For staging its Fokas again and we're best off hoping for something more restrained than he typically produces but I'm not expecting this to be either elevated or dragged down so much from the lower top 10 positions.

Personal Rating: 6/10

Competitive Rating: 8/10

Early Prediction: Semi 1 1st- 4th, Final 5th-9th
