Odds Review- Week Ending 17/01/20
This week has seen two countries shoot up in the odds, namely the two who have been releasing their national final participants: Norway and Finland.
The announcement of KEiiNO being amongst the field sent odds crashing to a low of 13. Following the release of 'Monument', Norway have stabilised in the mid to high teens. The same people sceptical of KEiiNO pre song reveal (myself included) are not overly impressed with the entry, nor its attempts to be 'jury friendly'. A more immediate concern however for Norway backers- and the fandom- is the presence of domestically popular Tix in the MGP final.
Finland could present a similar challenge, 'Lie' from Oskr is in my opinion the strongest entry from all we have heard yet but may face a strong battle to win UMK up against some much bigger names who will be revealing their entries over the next week. The volatility has not ended yet with either of these two movers.
As always, the quiet countries are the ones to pay the price in the odds with the likes of Armenia and Azerbaijan slipping down the table. Malta and Switzerland have also been matched higher throughout the week.
The market also remains unsure on Lithuania, with the Baltic state still given the least chance of last year's favourites to find another strong entry. Until The Roop reveal their song, it's proving hard to settle on a price for Lithuania, whose selection has begun with little fanfare.
As was mentioned in our first weekly roundup, Denmark and Australia were well above their usual starting price and both are now starting to trade lower.
At the top of the odds, Sweden have further narrowed the gap on the frontrunners of Iceland and Bulgaria, who again narrowly swap favouritism.
