Odds Review: Week Ending 13/02

First off, congratulations to the 7 countries who haven’t drifted since last weeks check, there’s a sea of red out there and and some of the drifts ain’t pretty. Serbia, Denmark, Germany and Croatia all have themselves to blame with poor lineups all around seeing their prices head to the moon but many are collateral damage to make way for Ukraine to shorten well into single figures following Alina Pash’s victory in Vidbir. Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia’s selections have not been able to make any impact.

Austria have selected their act with a DJ and unknown singer duo- market consensus is that Austria are being typically lazy and disinterested rather than have uncovered a gem. San Marino also bagged themselves a San Remo deserter (disappointingly it’s Achille Lauro but still) and a couple of other names in their selection briefly sparking some interest.

A Russian victory looks off the cards and you get the impression they know that too. Any dream team involvement may be limited to Greece who saw Amanda’s demo leaked earlier causing them to drift. Charly’s entry in Australia’s selection being released in full had a similar effect on their odds too.

The coming weak’s main attractions see current third favourites Poland and ninth favourites Norway select their entries as well as San Marino, Croatia, Slovenia and Malta. Personally, I get the impression any challenger to threaten the current heavy top 2 favourites can only come from something we haven’t heard yet -or overlooked in the carnage ;) so France’s artist and song reveal may turn out to be the most significant of the week with Sweden’s melfest semi 3 looking the weakest heat on paper in esc winner provider terms.

Italy remain favourites and have strengthened their position despite the emergence of Ukraine, so have been the lead in 4/5 of these end of week reviews so far.
